Hobbies & Interests Stryvek is a reader; he is particularly fond of ancient Earth authors. He is competent in a few instruments including the flute, the harp, and the Vulcan Lute. He has been known to give concerts. He enjoys studying history, as he knows that those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it. Since he has joined Starfleet, he has developed a taste for tobacco. Not usually one to indulge in such habits occasionally he has been known to smoke a cigar. He also enjoys learning about exotic animals and dabbles in archeaology.

Personal History Stryvek was born in Vulcana Regar on Vulcan in the year 2227. He was immediately groomed to be a formidable scientist. All of his aptitude tests showed that he had an exceptional aptitude for Biology and how living creatures functioned. He performed his first dissection of a Vulcan while still in secondary school.

He attended an accelerated schooling program with a concentration in Biology and Exobiology. One that could keep up with his exceptional skill in these subjects. His parents placed him on the path of Surak earlier than most children. This was so that he could concentrate on his studies and not have to worry about emotional outbursts. He began to purge emotions at the age of 17, which is still adolescence for a Vulcan. This study of supreme logic would continue throughout his lifetime. It serves as the ever-present connection to his heritage.

Throughout his educational career, there was not a subject he could not master, and he was immediately sent to the Vulcan Science Academy at the age of 25. There he studied all of the sciences that he could muster. Although he excelled and specialized in Biology and Exobiology with a minor in Astrophysics. He took particular interest in Alien Biology and at one point toyed with idea of becoming a doctor. He pushed the idea of medicine to the side in favor of the idea of exploration. He felt it was his duty as a Vulcan to bring logic to the galaxy, order to the chaos.

In his personal life, he comes to develop a fascination with non-Vulcans however; he believes that only the teachings of Surak will bring peace and order to a chaotic galaxy. Just as it did for Vulcan so many years before.

Just after his graduation from the Vulcan Science Academy, Stryvek experienced his first Pon Farr, he was 35 years old. He returned to his hometown, to complete the ritual with the mate his parents had selected for him, a woman named T’para. T’para was the same age as him and in fact had gone to the Academy with him. She specialized in Astronomy and Chemistry. Every seven Earth years he experiences the urge to return to Vulcan for Pon Farr, where he completes the rituals with T’para. Although the two were bonded, they never had children. Years later the bond would be broken when T’para perishes in the battle with the Borg at Wolf 359.

At the age of 40, he decided to use his fascination for Astronomy and Astrophysics and explore space, so he enlisted in the Vulcan Defense Fleet. It was during this time he met his first humans as he served on many joint missions with Starfleet and Federation civilian ships. He believes that humans are lower than Vulcans in evolutionary standards as the former is still governed by emotions. However, he finds the human zeal for life and view of everything with wonder quite refreshing. He begins to view humans as the little sibling to Vulcans. He attempts to teach humans the path of Surak whenever he can. He serves the next 22 years with distinction in the Vulcan fleet.

The need for the path of Surak to spread let Stryvek to Starfleet Academy in 2289. During his time at the Academy he managed to make a few acquaintances. One of which included a Bolian named Xeres. He also attended some classes with his bond mate T’para. His four years at the Academy are completed with relative ease. In fact, his only issues were not with his studies but were with his acclimation to life on Earth. The constant bombardment of emotions took a small toll on him and if he did not know better he would have thought that, he was homesick. He graduates in the top of his class and is assigned to the USS Cochrane as a Junior Science Officer with the rank of Ensign. He sends reports back to the Vulcan High Command whenever possible, reporting on the goings on in the fleet well as much as he knows with her junior rank.

He receives a promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade for assisting Andorian scientists with finding a cure for a plague that was ravaging their planet.

In 2295, he is reassigned to the USS Melbourne. His reassignment came from the Task Force Commanding Officer. He was worried about that ship’s newly minted captain’s feelings about Vulcans. Therefore, Stryvek was there to keep the Captain in line.

After serving five years aboard the Melbourne Stryvek thought it time to seal himself on the path of Surak and purge all emotions. So, he requested and was granted a leave of absence from Starfleet. He returned to Vulcan and underwent the Kolinahr Ritual. Stryvek would not be seen or hear from in the public for the next twenty years.

When Stryvek emerged from the ritual he had achieved what he sought and was now one with the Path of Surak. He wears his Kolinahr jewel at formal functions to this day. However, space and duty called again and so he reactivates his commission and is assigned to the USS Potemkin as the Assistant Chief Science Officer.

Just two short years later the Potemkin found itself stuck in the gravity well of a binary star system. Stek used a shuttle to reverse the polarity of the gravitational force and free the ship. For his quick thinking that saved the ship and crew he is promoted to Lieutenant. In 2327 the Chief Science Officer of the Potemkin is reassigned and promoted. So Captain Jenkins gives the position to Stryvek.

Three years late news of his father’s death reached Stryvek. He decided that it would be only logical to resign his commission and return to Vulcan to tend to family. During his next thirty years on Vulcan he learns that the people and the culture on Vulcan are not his anymore. While logic and the Path of Surak will always walk with him, his life seemed to have moved on. Even his mother sought a new life on Earth.

In 2360 Stryvek moves to Earth with his mother. It is here that he once again joins Starfleet. He is granted a promotion to Lieutenant Commander and a post teaching Exobiology, and Temporal Mechanics at the Academy. His time on Earth while rewarding and fascinating is overshadowed when he feels the bond break with his mate T’para as she is assimilated at Wolf 359. The fate of T’pare kept Stryvek on Earth. It was logical to teach the future Starfleet Officers to prevent an incident like that from happening again.

This was fine with him until 2375 when the Dominion War begins. The need for trained officers was high and Stryvek’s years with Starfleet gave him the experience they needed so he was pushed back into space service. He is promoted to the rank of Commander and assigned to the newly commissioned Prometheus Class USS Moore as the Executive Officer under the command of Captain Gregory Shardlake.

In August of 2374 a resupply ship was shot down by Dominion forces. The ship and its crew were forced to make a crash landing on asteroid XD-75. The crew of the supply ship was able to create a small pocket of atmosphere to survive. However, they were being bombarded by the Jem Hadaar and there was no escape. Captain Shardlake ordered Stryvek to lead an away team to save the supply crew.

During this mission the Jem’Hadaar threw a grenade at the Moore Away Team. Stryvek did not notice as he got the rest of the supply crew to the transport booster. Lieutenant Junior Grade Keishara Davaris the Assistant Chief Security and Tactical Officer pushed him out of the way, essentially laying on this grenade. When the dust settled from the blast the supply crew, and the rest of the away team were to safety. However, Stryvek and a badly injured Davaris remained. The logic as to why she saved him failed Stryvek. Nevertheless he knew that he would have to keep her alive until further help came. The only method that he could employ was a mind meld. So he did just that, the bond that these two officers share endures to this day.

About one year later the Moore is assigned as escort to a larger battlegroup. The group of Starfleet ships is surprised by a fleet of Dominion ships. The Moore and their battlegroup emerge victorious. However, Captain Gregory Shardlake and Lieutenant Commander Victoria Lansing is killed in action. Stryvek assumes command of the Moore and give Davaris the position of Chief Security and Tactical Officer to replace Lansing. Stryvek’s command of the ship is only temporary until the end of the war. When the Treaty of Bajor is signed and the Dominion War ended Starfleet grants Stryvek permanent command of the USS Moore. They also promote him to the rank of Captain. He remains in command of this storied ship to this day.
